Understanding Cabinet Door Styles
Slab Cabinets
A slab cabinet is has a flat door with no paneling or frame.
Flat Panel Cabinets
A flat panel cabinet has a flat center panel, instead of raised. This cabinet type does have a frame and can have paneling.
Raised Panel Cabinets
A raised panel cabinet has a center panel that sticks out, or is raised, as far as the lining. It will have a concaved lining around the center panel.
Applied Molding Cabinets
Applied molding cabinets are any cabinet doors with raised decorative molding applied. Often it is framing the center panel.
Mitered Frame Cabinets
Instead of 90 degree corners, mitered frame cabinets have 45 degree angles at the joints where the frame pieces meet.
Square Cabinets
Square cabinet doors have a squared off appearance to them.
Arch Cabinets
Arch cabinets are crafted with an arch design at the top of the center panel.
Shaker Cabinets
Shaker cabinet doors are the most common style due tot their classic look. Usually crafted as a 5-piece door, and a lowered center panel.
